Peterpan New Album "Hari Yang Cerah"

At first thought i thought peterpan did not sound like peterpan anymore & that their music had changed.

After a few times listening to the songs on this album, i started to like it & like it a lot i did.
Musically this is a great album which may again revolutionise the indo music scene. peterpan just leads the way.

The guitar music is faster on this album. So guitarist its great training to learn the chords on the album. From track to track the music is just inspirational, getting you to that fantasy world. i guess its in their whole peterpan package. And if yall look at the MVs, doesn't Ariel (Vocal) look so young in it, just like real peterpan (always looking young).

Thurs went to sing at bugis. Sing a few songs by Maroon 5, 98 Degrees & Sean Kingston.
Then went home.

Weekend & Singing at Kampong Ubi/Siglap

Hey yall. Had a great weekend. 1st on Friday night went to Kampong ubi to sing. They say got many artist there. Well thought i'd check it out. Its a cool looking place, next time must take pic.
During break time went to eat dinner at nearby Eunos MRT. Then notice this insurance guy walking towards me. He really tryin hard to get me to fill in his survey. Mind u i was wearing casual clothes & not looking anything rich, but he still insists in me filling up the form.

Can be annoying sometimes when these sales people come up to you. But yeah its their bread & butter & they're earning a living...what to do. They are dressed so confidently & look as if they are running a multi million dollar business. But they're working on the streets, asking people for money. You can't help thinking they're just like beggars in business suits. A bit sad really. But if u can't find a decent job, i think i can sympathise with trying to go into a commission based job. Or maybe they're just too hungry to earn a lot. And the promise of huge commission checks by selling insurance. Well thats their dream. Everybody wants to make it big & success in life...

After i headed back to the singing place, did 1 more song & then time to ga home. Thought of going home or visiting ma uncle. Went to the uncles place, but when i got there, nobody home. Oh well, took anotha bus & went straight home.

Saturday morning, wake up fresh & early. Went to town to buy a new pair of sports shoe. Gotta find one thats comfortable for me to dance in & do ma slides.

Found one with a cool design. Its white & blue & juz looks shiny. I put it on straight away & toss ma old shoes aside. They had served me well. Well thinking what am i going to do in the aftn. Well might as well go kbox since there's plenty of time before the singing at Kampong Ubi starts. So there went to kbox & sang for 4 hours. After singing in my cubicle, i walked out to get the waiter, then noticed the next room there were 2 malay girls wearing Tudung.

They were happily singing away, one of them standing up to sing. Haha we all do that, stand up & even jump up & down singing that exciting song.

After the kbox, its time to head off to Kampong Siglap. When i got there, its my 1st time. As soon as i entered, the place was really cool looking. It had a gothic romantic feel to it. With the big stage & relaxing lights. Kepth thinking its a perfect place to sing the song Jauh Mimpiku by peterpan band. Like in one of the concerts held by them the place feels like that. Its so cool. May be one day we can come up with a song like that & sing it to thousands of people at night with this kind of scenery.

After the singing, went to my relative home to sleep over. Have not seen them or a while. So siglap to tampines was pretty close & happily i went there.

EVENT REVIEW:
It was a great night of singing at Yishun. Met so many new friends young & old.

ANALYSIS OF SONGS SUNG BY ME:
On that night I sang the following songs in this order.

1st song I sang Mungkin Nanti by Peterpan Band - No much crowd yet, except the beautiful DJ & her friends.

2. Sedang Ingin Bercinta by Dewa - After singing this song someone said I should enter Anugerah. Well nah I don't like to be judged. I'd rather go & create my own songs.

3. Cintailah by Radja - Got a huge loud applause by the crowd. Wow, i never thought my singing could have that kind of effect. It felt good.

4. Topeng by peterpan - This is the song that always seems to get the crowd going. And it did. All the crowd came in when i was about to sing this song. Could see the excitement on all the kids faces. lol

Ariel peterpan looks a bit like Kurt Cobain Nirvana?

I have always been a listener of peterpan band. They are a legendary band from indonesia.

From my research, they told me that when peterpan 1st started giging as a band they sang Nirvana songs. Come to think of it a few of peterpans songs sound like Nirvana & Ariel makes the kurt cobain growl.

I could think of 2 peterpan songs when Ariel does this Nirvana growl. Once in the song titled Topeng (Song line: "Buka dulu topeng mu"). Another is in the song Sahabat. Sahabat is the most grungy nirvana sounding song from peterpan i think. The line when ariel sings "Wahai Sahabat", very like Nirvana. Cool.

One day i was listening & watching thru their music videos (MVs) & saw this part in Kukatakan Dengan Indah. That time Ariel had long hair almost shoulder length. Come to think of it he looks a bi like Kurt Cobain in the scene. Here i'L show you:)



And like Nirvana peterpan band revolutionised the indonesian pop/rock music scene. They have this unique sound to their music, a bit grungy, but soothing at the same time. When they entered the scene, they set the trend of a new generation of Western sounding bands.

Exciting day of Singing @ Yishun & Sengkang

Went off to Yishun to sing. 1st time there. Man they had a BIG stage ther. Feels so exciting when you can sing on stage. For the 1st song I choose to sing Jujur from Radja band. I just love the intro of this song. Allows you to play with your high pitch vocals, then goes to the low rock pitch.

The chorus goes:

"Jujur lah padaku
Bila kau tak lagi cinta
Tinggalkan lah aku bila tak mungkin bersama
Jauhi diriku
Lupakanlah aku selamanya... ho..."

The Ho... part is a long growl. Allows you to shout. Need control when you shout on this part.

The song has a lot of meaning on my part. Went thru it. lol

Jujur is a popular song. Went to a lounge on the night before in Orchard & some guy sang it too. Just after i sang it. lol

So i sang it on stage & danced around a bit. After i finished singing, didnt expect the incredible applause from the crowd. It was a good feeling & my throat just starting to warm up.

Waited a while for my next song. I sang Topeng by peterpan band. Love the MV from this song where it shows people jumping up & down & dancing. A real rock MV. Gets the crowd pumpin yeah. Singing this song half way thru, then the sound man, inrease the volume. Yeah apa lagi, i up my vox too. Man it was loud. After the song, got another incredible applause. Man this is fun. But yeah, I had to go on to the next location.

Said goodbye to the other talents. They asked if i could stay longer, but yeah i gotta go & sing at Sengkang.

Picture: Radja. So true, you must feel the music before you sing it. Feel it flowing thru your body & soul.

So off i went to Senkang, in a cab. Really wanted the comfy cab, but got those old bumpy ride cabs. lol The driver was a nice man. It was a long straight road on TPE. So straight, the driver got syiok driving, he forgot to turn to Sengkang. We end up at Pasir Ris. lol. So U turn back.

Finally reach Sengkang, minus $4 for the ride. Its 6 by now.Entered the singing place. Man there was a lota people. It was rockin alrite. One guy really inspired me. His voice was really strong. He could do low. He could do high. Impact yeah.

I choose to sing Tercipta Untukku from Ungu band. Watched Ayat Ayat Cinta the previous day & at the end of the movie, they played this song. Its a very meaningful song for many couples.
I really want to work on this song & sing it with a lot of emotion. Wish could get pasha to help me out. lol. Pasha's vocals just have this amazing & can trigger a lot of emotions.

When you do a slow song like this, you need to put emotion in it, so its more entertaining.

My last song for the day, was Bulan from Radja band. And it was an exciting performance to fininsh off the night. This song always gets the crowd dancing. Love it.
